WCC was honored to exhibit at the 2018 UN High Level Political Forum on Sustain -able Development (HLPF) from July 9 ~18 in New York City. Partners from Water Engineers for the Americas (WEFTA) and Haiti-Philanthropy joined CCD to staff the exhibit. This year the HLPF was focused on six Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs): SDG 6, Clean Water and Sanitation; SDG 7, Affordable and Clean Energy; SDG 11, Sustainable Cities and Communities; SDG 12, Responsible Consumption and Production; SDG 15, Life on Land; and, SDG 17, Partnerships for the Goals. WCC developed a unique exhibit with messages on how chlorine chemistry is relevant to the six SDGs that were the focus of the HLPF. Many visitors to the exhibit were surprised and intrigued to learn more about chlorine chemistry’s contribution to sustainability. Most notably, visitors from nations in Africa were very engaged in discussions of how chlorine chemistry can help provide safer drinking water, and other technologies that can help their country achieve the SDGs.
